Greater Sitka Arts Council to host Spring Art Walk on Friday, April 5

Downtown Sitka vendors and businesses will participate in the Spring Art Walk from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, April 5. The annual event is sponsored by the Greater Sitka Arts Council.

The Sitka Sound Science Center will start a little earlier, showcasing high school artists at 4:30 p.m.

As in past years. passports will be available for local residents to have stamped by participating vendors. completed passports will be entered into a drawing to win door prizes, including art and other merchandise.

Participating galleries and merchants include Sitka Rose Gallery, Fate Accompli, Artists Cove Gallery, Alaskan Designed, Harry Race Pharmacy, Old Harbor Books, Sitka Sound Science Center, Island Artists Co-op Gallery, Transformational Living, and Ravens Hook.

Many of Sitka’s artists will be featured, such as Sam Falk, Karen McIntyre, Kay McCarty, Allison Spurlock, Sandra Baker, Tyler Eddy, and the late Eric Bealer.

“It’s a really fun event to kick off the summer and celebrate local talent,” the arts council said in a press release. “Some galleries will offer art walk discounts, so it’s a great time to get out and see what’s happening next week, as well as supporting local businesses and artists.”
